About us - the organisation of the Society

The majority of our members (now about 180) come to the talks or take part in walks or research but the week-to-week running of affairs devolves to the Committee as in our constitution. This meets every month or so depending on the work in hand and the officers meet between times. Minutes are at the moment distributed to the Committee and are available for scrutiny in our 'yellow box' in the Stone Mines Information Centre in the centre of the village.

The officers are the Chairman, the Secretary and Vice-Chair, the Treasurer and the Membership Secretary.

The Society, inaugurated in 2004 from the previous Heritage Group, works in collaboration with, and receives support from, the Bath and North-east Somerset Council, the Stone Mines Stabilisation Project and the Combe Down Stone Mines Community Association. It maintains contact with other local heritage sites including the World Heritage Site management, the Roman Baths Museum, the Building of Bath Museum, the Bath at Work Museum and with other local history and similar societies.

Further information about the Society can be seen in our Committee page, our Constitution and our Mission Statement.
