Combe Down Past & Present: - old postcards & many new photographs exhibited at meetings and published on CD in 2005 A stall was manned at the BBC Bath History Fest in 2004 Visiting speakers in 2005 were David Workman on Combe Down Stone and Owen Ward on the de Montalt mill Talks have also been given by Society members Dick Irving, Rosemary Simmons and Malcolm Aylett A guided walk of the churches and chapels A guided walk around the Hartham Park stone mine at Corsham by David Pollard was enjoyed by 23 members and guests in 2005
2006 In February a talk by Malcolm Aylett described research on the Combe Down Roman Villa March - Illustrated talks on the Society's Projects with a Quiz and a brief AGM May - Guided walk for members of The History of Bath Research Group May - Shops Workshop June - Guided walk for members of the Environmental Geotechnics Conference July - a stand was set up at the 'Widcombe Rising' August - History of the Prior Park Estate' by Mike Chapman October - Guided Walk as part of Bath Open Week October - Jewish Burial Ground Open Day in collaboration with the Friends of the Burial Ground November - 'Goodridge Architecture', Amy Frost December - 'Ask the Experts', a panel on Combe Down artefacts 2007 February - a talk by Andrew Swift on 'Local Pubs'. March - a slide show of Bath postcards by Paul De'Ath. April - The Bats of Combe Down, a talk by Roger Ransome July - Excursion to Claverton Pump September - Excursion to Butcombe Brewery October - Guided Walk as part of Bath Open Week November - Launch of our publication 'I remember Tucking Mill' December - A Heritage Quiz Night 2008 February - Marek Lewcun, a talk on the Restoration of the 18th Century Prior Park Garden March - Presentations of our research on Old Shops and on Oral History | ||
